Artist Series - Melissa Rubin
The Points of Interest Artist Series features original work from amazing artists that have given us exclusive rights to put their art work in jewelry settings.
These pieces, from my Kabuki Days series, were inspired by my time traveling in Japan on a Fulbright Fellowship. While there I attended traditional Kabuki and Noh theater. Kabuki literally means “to be out of the ordinary” and I was struck by the visual poetry, the tremendous emotion captured in the masks, colors and movements. The original art works are monotypes: a printmaking process which is done quickly, to capture the intense energy of the image.”
